Multi Family Homes - Selected Projects

The Chadwick
Richmond, Virginia

Situated “On the Avenues” at Libbie and Grove in Westhampton, The Chadwick forms the centerpiece of one of Richmond’s finest neighborhoods.  This mixed-use project is located one block from The Country Club of Virginia, and across the street from dining, cafes, shopping, galleries, and theater. It’s less than a mile from St. Mary’s Hospital and minutes from downtown Richmond’s sports and cultural activities via the Downtown Expressway.

Rising Sun Homes
New Orleans, Louisiana

Hurricane Katrina changed everything. Millions were displaced by the storm and resultant flood waters. Some chose not to return and others have participated in the rebuilding with renewed hope and faith. As is true in many disasters, the elderly are often the most adversely affected. Pastor Janneford of Rising Sun Ministries sought to provide new affordable senior housing on a site where up to eight feet of water stood during the worst of the storm. Studio Z created a design based on a traditional Old Quarter gallery style that could be built affordably using Structural Insulated Panels (SIPS). This allowed the construction to be completed in less than half the time of conventional stick built construction. SIPS also provided the building with 60% better energy performance and the structural strength to withstand hurricane force winds. The Mayor praised the project by citing it as one of “Katrina’s Rainbows.”

Presidential Court Club
Richmond, Virginia

Studio Z created 24 custom condominiums within the shell of the former Dooley Madison Home.  The project is located just a few steps from Richmond's five star Jefferson Hotel and features an indoor pool, fitness center, outdoor patio, and roof deck.

Carter Plantation Resort
Springfield, Louisiana

Studio Z created the Creole Village expansion of David Toms' Carter Plantation Resort with one goal in mind; provide the resort lifestyle to seniors at an affordable price.  Combining their years of multi-family design experience with the structural and energy saving advantages of SIPS panels, Studio Z created a friendly walkable neighborhood where golf, fishing, tennis, and fine dining were within a short walk or cart ride. Flexible planning allows for the addition of a residential elevator to provide accessibility to those with increased mobility challenges.  Affordability, accessibility, and sustainability, all part of the resort lifestyle at Carter Plantation.
